What makes us different
There are a lot of companies in Tucson who will hang a television. Here is what actually separates us from them.
We hold the electrical licence, so we do the whole job
Most integrators in this town are low-voltage-only. When a project needs line-voltage work — a new circuit for a rack, a lighting panel, power at the head rail of a motorised shade, a hardwired smoke detector — they have to bring in an electrician, and your project stops until that subcontractor has a free day.
We are a licensed Residential and Commercial Electrical Contractor in Arizona, ROC 349867 & ROC 364786. We do that work ourselves. One crew, one schedule, one company answering for the result.
We are not tied to one platform, so we recommend by fit
An integrator who carries a single automation platform will recommend that platform to everyone, because it is the only thing they can sell. That is not advice, it is inventory.
We are certified across Control4, Crestron Home, Savant, Lutron and Josh.ai. Control4 suits most homes. Crestron or Savant when a project is large or the customisation is demanding. Lutron whenever lighting and shading lead — which in Tucson they very often do. We pick the one that fits your house, and we will tell you when the cheaper option is the right one.
You can use the systems before you buy them
A brochure cannot tell you whether a keypad makes sense to your family, or whether tunable-white lighting is worth it to you. Sitting in a room running the actual system can.
We keep two working showrooms in Tucson: our Control4 Experience Center on Forbes Blvd, and our Lutron Ketra lighting and shade showroom on N Oracle Rd. Both are by appointment, which is deliberate — it means someone is free to walk you through it properly rather than nodding at you from behind a desk.
The service department is in-house, and it takes work we did not install
Plenty of companies will sell you a system and then be difficult to reach when it stops working. Our service department is staffed in-house with its own technicians and its own dispatch out of the Butterfield Dr operations centre.
We also service systems installed by other companies, including ones that have gone out of business. If you inherited a system with a house, or your original installer has stopped answering, that is a normal call for us rather than an awkward one.
Commercial-grade experience, applied to houses
This company started in commercial work — our founder designed and installed nightclub and commercial audio systems across the United States and Mexico before turning to the local market.
That pedigree still shows. Our project managers have delivered work for the University of Arizona, Pima Community College, Raytheon, the City of Tucson and Tucson Unified School District. A twenty-screen sports bar is a normal week. When that discipline is applied to a home, you get infrastructure that was specified to survive commercial duty.
Locally owned, and the owners are still the ones doing the work
Founded in Tucson in 1994 as Millennium Electrical Systems. AV Specialists from 2006. Merged with Automation Specialists in January 2024 to become what we are now.
It is still owner-operated — Chad Carney, Brian Beezley, Austin Miller and Jim Casner are partners who are in the business daily, not investors. Thirty years in one city means we know which neighbourhoods are block construction, which are frame, and what that means for the wire we have to get from A to B.
You can review the individual person who came to your house
Every technician, project manager and salesperson on our team has their own page where you can rate them by name. We publish our Google reviews verbatim, including the ones that are not five stars.
That is a deliberately uncomfortable thing to offer, and it is the point. It keeps the standard where it should be.
The short version
We hold the electrical licence, we are not selling you one brand because it is the only one we carry, you can try the system before you buy it, and if it breaks in five years there is still someone here who answers the phone.
